My boyfriend is looking to get a laptop for school. this is going to be his second year of college, and needs something reliable... that will last long, also something for web browsing, word, xp, and so on... i was looking at the dell insperion, but after putting in all the upgrades like xp and so on the total came out to about 800.00 when it originally was 499.00...would hp be a good route to look into. i personally have an hp pavillion dv6500, and i love it. i've had it for 3years, and it's worked great... it's just that mine cost somewhere around 1,000... which i got for graduation. but he's paying for it himself. he's trying to find a laptop that is affordable for a college student still with all the features he needs.he also likes playing video games, and i know has been wanting to play some on the computer... so if it would be compatable with games that would be great. otherwise it's not necessary. but can someone give me a few options here, because i don't know where to start thanks i just looked at the 349.00 laptops at wal mart, and they have no programs that's how they can sell them so cheap. all the programs like word expires in 30 90 days... which is not ideal for a college student. that is something we need to have especially when he's in jourlism, english comp 2, and creative writing among others... that's a very important feature.
