I have no idea what to look for in a laptop! I don't do well with computer lingo either! Someone help!!?
I just want a comp that I can use throughout college for papers, notes, and research. I'm not a big gamer, but I do like to download music and pictures. I have no idea what RAM means or what specs are. Please help Right now I have my sister's old laptop. She got it 3 years ago. Its a Dell, but I'm not sure which model it is. But she killed the battery so now it wont even turn on unless its been plugged in for at least 3 days and it's slower than my grandmother

Heres my situation, I got about 450 to spend on a laptop.I am looking for a refurbished one, and ebay seems to be my best bet.'If you know any better sites that sell cheap refurbished laptops feel free to post them.Heres my question now Is there a site that can tell me a list of good processors to look for and bad ones to stay away from, same for models and the like? I work from home with Word documents and need several browsers and programs open at one time. So I need to be able to do this without a lot of lagtime. I have wi fi but I know with most laptops they already have a network card. I also want to be able to use my laptop for recreational use with the internet and games. My current laptop tends to be slower and I have filled the hard drive almost completely. It also overheats pretty quick when I am gaming even with flash games. I need to know what to look for in processor speed, ram, video, memory and the hard drive. I know how to use computers but not so much what makes them run.

What to look for in a laptop price range $500-$600?
I'm going to be helping a friend buy a laptop soon and I some how know more about computers then him, so he wants my help.I know it needs to have a dedicated graphics card, at least 500gb memory, and at least 4gb ram. he's going to be gaming, probably diablo 3 we will be shopping at stores where we live, not online. we are also in canada so we can't buy from US stores.

I have a laptop but dont use it i usually use my desktop. My desktop is a custom homemade but I want to know if you could build a laptop. I just feel like getting a laptop for basic browsing and maybe some low level gaming but i also want it to last. My budget is like $900. If custom built myself for laptops isnt good what company should i buy from?
